Jinyoung Myeonok in Doksan. Is there a long wait even in the middle of winter? Where should I park?

A Visit to Jinyoung Myeonok in Doksan-dong: The Perfect Harmony of Pyeongyang Cold Noodles and Boiled Pork in Winter

Jinyoung Myeonok, a Mecca for Pyeongyang Cold Noodle Lovers

I recently visited Jinyoung Myeonok , a hidden gem in Doksan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. This place had already gained fame on various YouTube channels and blogs. As a lover of Pyeongyang cold noodles, I thought I had to try it at least once, so I visited on a cold winter day. You might think it’s strange to have cold noodles in the winter, but the combination of a refreshing broth and a shot of warm soju was truly a delicacy of the winter season.

A Hard-to-Find Location, But Worth the Wait

The restaurant was located in an alleyway in a residential area, making it difficult to find. Also, parking was almost impossible. Fortunately, I was able to use the public parking lot in a nearby market, so it wasn't too difficult. When I arrived at the entrance, the wait time was already long. While I was waiting after getting a numbered ticket, feeling the popularity of this place, I could also hear the customers talking about how much they looked forward to the food.

While waiting, I looked around at the exterior of the restaurant and felt a simple yet cozy atmosphere. When I stepped inside, the clean and tidy interior caught my eye, and thanks to the kind service from the staff, the waiting time didn't feel that long.

Pyeongyang Cold Noodles and Boiled Pork, and Buckwheat Pancakes

Finally, I sat at my table and ordered. The table was filled with Pyeongyang cold noodles , boiled pork , and buckwheat pancakes . First, I lifted a mouthful of the cold noodles. The noodles, which had a high buckwheat content, were soft and savory, and the clear, subtle broth boasted a deep flavor. The broth alone was satisfying enough, but it was even more flavorful with the additions of pear, meat, and egg garnish.

The boiled pork that followed was a masterpiece. The meat, cut to a reasonably thick size, was clean and tender with no gamey smell. The harmony between the lean meat and fat was perfect, and it tasted even better when eaten with the provided salted shrimp. It was perfect as a side dish with drinks.

Finally, I also can't leave out the buckwheat pancakes. The crispy yet moist texture was superb, and the savory flavor exploded when I ate them with the soy sauce onion pickles. Every dish was served neatly, and I could feel the care that was put into each one.

An Excellent Experience for a Winter Delicacy

Jinyoung Myeonok was the most satisfying cold noodle restaurant I have visited recently. Not only was the interior clean and the service kind, but also I thought it was a top Pyeongyang cold noodle restaurant in Seoul thanks to the care and taste I could feel in every dish. Especially in the winter, the combination of cool cold noodles and a shot of warm soju was truly a special delicacy.

However, the somewhat secluded location and poor accessibility by public transportation might be a slight inconvenience. But it’s definitely a place I want to visit again even if I have to endure all that inconvenience.

In Conclusion...

Jinyoung Myeonok is a restaurant that I can recommend not only to Pyeongyang cold noodle lovers but to anyone. This place, where you can enjoy refreshing cold noodles, warm boiled pork, and crispy buckwheat pancakes together in winter, offers a special experience that goes beyond simply having a meal.

If you're looking for a unique delicacy this winter, which is worth the wait, be sure to visit Jinyoung Myeonok! I can assure you won’t regret it!
