Hongji Roast, a Restaurant in Nagwon Arcade, Jongno 3-ga: Enjoying Hanwoo Roast Brisket
Hongji Roast, a Unique Meat Restaurant in Nagwon Arcade
Hongji Roast , located in Nagwon Arcade in Jongno 3-ga, is a great place for people who love meat and drinks. The menu item I chose to try during my visit was Hanwoo Roast Brisket (thinly sliced Korean beef brisket), and the experience was truly satisfying, living up to my expectations. The fact that it is located in the unique space of Nagwon Arcade was also charming, and the combination of the charm of an old neighborhood and a modern sensibility made it a special time.
Nagwon Arcade is a place with a unique charm in itself, and Hongji Roast is a restaurant that makes the atmosphere even more noticeable. The combination of the retro sensibility felt in an old building and modern food culture offers an experience beyond simply eating meat.
Western-style Soup Served Before the Main Menu
I was already captivated by the soup that was served before the meat. It was a creamy and soft soup, reminiscent of what you might taste at a Western-style restaurant, with a warm and savory taste that was superb. The time spent waiting for the food, slowly spooning the soup, felt very leisurely. I had the feeling that just this soup was already a sign of a good start.
In particular, this soup didn't just serve to whet my appetite but also played a big role in enhancing the overall anticipation of the meal. Thanks to the creamy texture and soft flavor, I could feel a pleasant satisfaction even before the meal.
The Charm of Hanwoo Roast Brisket
Finally, the main menu item, Hanwoo Roast Brisket , came out. The thinly sliced roast brisket sizzled on the grill, and the savory aroma stimulated my appetite. The brisket, with a perfect mix of fat and lean meat, cooked quickly as soon as it was placed on the grill, and when I ate a piece, the flavor that filled my mouth was truly appealing.
In particular, roast brisket can sometimes feel greasy because it's fatty, but the side dishes at this place cleanly took care of that greasiness. When eaten with pa kimchi (scallion kimchi) and minari jangajji (water dropwort pickle), the flavor of the meat was enhanced while my mouth felt refreshed. The combination with the kimchi that was grilled lightly on the grill was also excellent.
The freshness of the meat was a given, and the roast brisket, cooked properly on the grill, was juicy and savory with every bite, which was really satisfying. The aroma that spread while it was being grilled was already enough to make me feel full.
A Meal Enjoyed with Side Dishes
The side dishes at Hongji Roast were also perfect to enjoy with the meat. Side dishes such as pa kimchi, white kimchi, and minari jangajji brought out the flavor of the meat even more. In particular, the stir-fried kimchi, grilled on the grill and eaten with the meat, was a fantastic match. The salty yet spicy flavor of the stir-fried kimchi cleaned up the greasiness of the meat and kept me reaching for more.
Each of the side dishes felt like it was carefully prepared, providing more than just a typical side dish, but something that added to the satisfaction of the meal. In particular, the refreshing flavor of the minari jangajji was really good at cleaning up my palate after eating the roast brisket.
In Conclusion...
The Hanwoo Roast Brisket I enjoyed at Hongji Roast provided a special dining experience where you can enjoy the atmosphere as well as the delicious meat. Especially the Western-style soup served before the meal made me look forward to the start of the meal, and the savory and flavorful brisket exceeded my expectations.
If you want to spend a leisurely time with meat and drinks near Jongno 3-ga, I highly recommend Hongji Roast! It was such a satisfying time that I want to try the other menu items next time.
