What's a good restaurant for Hoe-deopbap and Altang in Gwanghwamun? Visit Gyeonghuigung Tuna!

A Recommended Lunch Spot for Gwanghwamun Office Workers: Gyeonghuigung Tuna

A Great Tuna Restaurant to Visit After the Seoul Museum of History

There's a place I strongly recommend as a great lunch spot for those who work in Gwanghwamun: Gyeonghuigung Tuna ! It's perfectly located to have lunch after looking around the Seoul Museum of History (it's in the same building as Illyang and Neungra). I recently visited and enjoyed their lunch menu and I'd like to share my truly satisfying experience!

The Seoul Museum of History is a great place to experience history and culture near Gwanghwamun. You can complete your perfect lunch plan by enjoying a delicious meal at Gyeonghuigung Tuna after viewing the exhibition. Especially with free exhibitions offered at the museum, you can visit without any burden!

Lunch Menu: Hoe-deopbap and Altang

The dishes I ordered were Hoe-deopbap (raw fish rice bowl) and Altang (spicy pollock roe stew). The Hoe-deopbap was topped with plenty of fresh tuna, and the savory sesame oil aroma and spicy-sweet seasoning were really appetizing. When mixed with the rice, the taste made me empty the whole bowl in no time.

Also, the Altang that came with it was really excellent. The spicy and deep broth was superb, making me feel like my stomach was being completely soothed. It was a perfect menu for chilly weather like these days. If you want to have a hearty meal at lunch, I highly recommend this combination!

Basic Service: Tuna Sushi and Kimchi Jjim

What I want to especially praise at Gyeonghuigung Tuna is the tuna sushi and kimchi jjim (braised kimchi) that they provide as a basic service.

  • Tuna Sushi: One piece is provided per person, and the soft and fresh texture of the tuna was really good. The quality was surprisingly high for what is just a complimentary service.
  • Kimchi Jjim: The combination of well-fermented kimchi and pork was fantastic and was so delicious that I wanted another bowl of rice. This kimchi jjim alone was enough of a reason to revisit.

The basic services alone were already enough to make for a satisfying meal, and eating them with the main menu made it an even richer meal.

A Spacious and Friendly Space, and Plans for a Dinner Visit

Gyeonghuigung Tuna also has a quite spacious interior, which is good for group visits, and the friendly staff made it a pleasant experience. It's a popular place for office workers during lunch hours, so you could feel the lively atmosphere.

I was so satisfied with this lunch visit that I'm planning to revisit for dinner soon. I think I'll be able to enjoy various tuna dishes with drinks in the evening, and I'm already looking forward to it! It also seemed like a good place for company dinners.

A Perfect Course in Combination with the Seoul Museum of History

Gyeonghuigung Tuna is within walking distance of the Seoul Museum of History, making it a perfect course for a lunchtime stroll. After experiencing history and culture by viewing an exhibition at the museum, completing the day with a delicious meal at Gyeonghuigung Tuna was very satisfying. Especially if it's a free exhibition, it's easy to visit without any burden!

The Donated Artifacts Special Exhibition: My Treasures, My Heritage exhibition is currently being held at the museum, where you can glimpse the history of Seoul through artifacts donated by citizens. After visiting the exhibition and then going to Gyeonghuigung Tuna, you can spend a day that makes both your mind and body feel full and satisfied.

In Conclusion...

I highly recommend Gyeonghuigung Tuna to office workers in Gwanghwamun who are wondering where to have lunch. It's a place where you can have a satisfying experience in every way, from the fresh ingredients and carefully prepared dishes to the generous basic services.

I'd like to recommend visiting it as a course to enjoy with the Seoul Museum of History. If you want to have a relaxing lunch while feeling history and culture, be sure to visit this place this weekend or during a weekday lunch break!
