A Visit to the London Bagel Museum in Anguk After Work
A Trendy Spot Near Gwanghwamun, the London Bagel Museum
After work, I headed to Anguk Station. For someone like me who works in Gwanghwamun, it isn't too far of a distance, especially with a Ttareungyi (Seoul's public bike sharing) bike. My destination today was the London Bagel Museum . It's already a well-known hotspot, so I visited it with anticipation.
The warm scent of bread and the lively atmosphere that I felt as soon as I entered the store! I didn't know that bagels came in so many varieties. The basil bagel was the first thing that caught my eye. The green basil dough seemed to contain its freshness. Next to it were the truffle butter bagel and the pretzel-style bagel , each with a distinct appeal. The truffle scent added a sense of luxury, and the pretzel bagel looked like it would have a salty flavor.
The store was already crowded with many customers, but the warm scent of bread and the lively atmosphere made even the wait enjoyable. Especially with the various types of bagels on display, it was fun to wonder which menu item to choose.
Details of London Sensibilities
On one side of the store, there were props with London sensibilities. As you might expect from a place called "London Bagel Museum," the packaging and pamphlets featuring the British flag caught my eye. The details that made me feel like I was in a small bakery in London were captivating. The neon sign saying "LOVE THAT BAGEL" was a good spot to take pictures and made the overall atmosphere of the store even more special.
In particular, various props with a classic British feel were placed throughout the store, providing an experience that went beyond just eating bread. The sophisticated designs printed on the packaging and menus clearly showed the brand's identity, and these details left a deep impression on the visitors.
Various Menus and the Joy of Choosing
At the London Bagel Museum, they don't only sell bagels, but also various sandwich menus. The truffle pepper sandwich and bacon pepper sandwich especially caught my eye. A combination of truffle and bacon, the thought of it alone made my mouth water. Of course, the prices weren't cheap, but I couldn't help but open my wallet for such a special experience.
The menu I chose was a pretzel bagel sandwich filled with honey and cream cheese . The combination of sweetness and saltiness that spread through my mouth as soon as I took a bite was truly fantastic. The smooth flavors of honey and cream cheese paired perfectly with the chewy texture of the pretzel. This combination offered something special that went beyond just being delicious.
The Kindness of the Staff and the Disappointment of a Popular Store
The store was quite crowded, but I was able to stay there comfortably thanks to the kind service from the staff. I felt their attentiveness as they kindly explained and recommended menu items when I placed my order. However, I was a bit disappointed with the long wait time since it was such a popular place. Still, the bagels and sandwiches I tasted after waiting were definitely worth the wait.
Especially, it was impressive to see the staff serving customers with a smile despite the crowded store. It seems that this attentiveness allowed visitors to have a more satisfying experience.
In Conclusion...
The London Bagel Museum , which I visited after work, was a perfect place to unwind after a long day. The warm smell of bread and the time spent in a space that felt like London was truly special. I plan to try other kinds of bagels next time.
If you are looking for a unique bakery near Anguk Station, I highly recommend this place! If you want to spend a relaxing time while enjoying delicious bagels, be sure to visit it!
