A Feast of Exotic Flavors: A Review of Everest Restaurant in Dongdaemun

Everest Restaurant: Where Nepal Meets India

I visited Everest Restaurant in Dongdaemun. This Nepalese and Indian restaurant, highly praised in various broadcasts and blogs, is famous for offering authentic flavors in Seoul. This visit exceeded my expectations, and I was able to enjoy a feeling of traveling throughout the meal, thanks to not only the food but also the unique atmosphere the space provided.

A feast of exotic food! From the delicious smell, it feels like I'm in India.

The restaurant is located a 2-3 minute walk from Exit 3 of Dongdaemun Station, and the Nepalese flag hanging at the entrance gives it an exotic feel from the start. The interior is decorated to create an authentic local atmosphere, making you feel as if you've arrived in Nepal or India. The ordering system is also convenient, using tablets.

Ordered Menu and First Impression

We ordered the B set, a representative set menu. The set consisted of:

  • 2 types of naan (butter naan, garlic naan)
  • Rice (Korean rice)
  • 2 types of curry (chicken curry, palak paneer)
  • Tandoori Chicken
  • Drink (Mango Lassi)

I was filled with anticipation even before the food arrived, especially looking forward to the combination of naan and curry. From the moment the food was presented, I was visually satisfied. The dishes on the plate were neat yet colorful, a feast for the eyes.

Even the green curry, though unconventional, was delicious.

A Feast of Flavors: The Perfect Harmony of Naan and Curry

The butter naan and garlic naan were soft and wonderfully chewy. Dipping them in the curry doubled the flavor. The chicken curry had a deep flavor with a smooth tomato base, cream, and spices, while the palak paneer, with its combination of spinach and cheese, was savory and rich. The palak paneer, in particular, was so mild and clean that even someone who doesn't usually like spinach could enjoy it.

The Charm of Tandoori Chicken

The tandoori chicken was crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. It had just the right amount of spiciness with a subtle hint of spices that was enough to whet the appetite. It was even more flavorful when eaten with the accompanying chili sauce. The combination of the juicy meat and the blend of spices with every bite was an unforgettable experience.

The spicy tandoori chicken wasn't exactly to my taste, but I enjoyed it.

Drinks and Dessert: Lassi and Rasgulla

The mango lassi that came with the meal was sweet with a unique yogurt-like tang, cleansing the palate after the meal. For dessert, we were served *rasgulla*, cheese balls steeped in a sweet syrup, which had a distinctive texture and an intensely sweet taste. It was unfamiliar at first, but the more I ate, the more appealing it became. I felt like I could understand the food culture of Nepal and India a little more deeply through this dessert.

Everest offers a rich set menu, including dessert!

Overall: A Restaurant I Want to Visit Again

Everest Restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it's a space where you can experience a different culture and taste. Every dish was prepared with care, and the combination of naan and curry, in particular, was incredibly delicious.

I think it's a great value for money, with reasonable prices and generous portions. I highly recommend it to those who like exotic foods or those who want to explore new flavors. I'm definitely planning to visit again! Next time, I want to try some of their other dishes!

The business card also includes the address and phone number, so keep it in mind when you visit.
