CASETiFY MagSafe Card Wallet Durability? A Review After More Than 1 Year of Use

CASETiFY MagSafe Card Wallet After 3 Years of Use: From Design to Durability

Design and Satisfaction

As an iPhone user for the past three years, the most satisfying aspect of using CASETiFY's MagSafe card wallet was the design. In particular, collaboration products with brands like Billionaire Boys Club and The Hundreds gave off a simple yet sophisticated feeling, and as limited editions, they had high collectible value.

CASETiFY's customization options also provided users with the opportunity to express their individuality. You can add your own text or images, making it not just a simple accessory but a personalized item. Also, the fact that the product was made of 50% recycled materials showed the brand's philosophy of sustainability and gave me more confidence in the product.

In particular, this product was not just practical but also a stylish item. Thanks to the various colors and designs, it went well with any case, and each new collaboration sparked my desire to purchase. In this regard, I thought CASETiFY was a truly outstanding brand in terms of design.

Durability Issues

However, apart from the design, there were many aspects where the durability was disappointing. There was a common problem of the artificial leather border lifting or peeling, which appeared from just everyday use, such as putting it in and taking it out of my pocket. Especially after about a year of use, the damage to the exterior became noticeably severe, and I also experienced the weakening of the adhesive part repeatedly.

CASETiFY provides free replacement for initial defects through their 6-month warranty policy, but it was disappointing that natural wear and tear or peeling of the print were excluded from the warranty. If they improve the durability a bit more, it could be a much more perfect product.

Especially in environments with severe seasonal changes like Korea, the durability issues were more noticeable. The artificial leather was more quickly damaged by sweat and humidity in the summer, and the adhesive part often weakened in the winter. From this point on, I thought that improvements to the materials or production methods were necessary.

MagSafe Magnetic Force

The magnetic force of the MagSafe card wallet was very strong at first, but it tended to weaken slightly over time. Because of this, the wallet would sometimes easily fall off my iPhone. However, this weakening of magnetic force is common among other third-party MagSafe accessories, so it was hard to say that it was a problem unique to CASETiFY.

Still, the initial magnetic force was quite satisfactory, and it felt stable when it was securely attached to the iPhone. Especially, it was convenient because it wouldn't easily detach even if it was mixed with other items in my bag. However, it would be better if the magnetic force could be maintained over the long term.

Usability in Korea

In Korea, although Apple Pay has been introduced, physical card wallets are still essential due to the low distribution rate of NFC terminals and the lack of support for transportation card functions. So, I carried and used this product every day (it easily fits up to two cards), but there was also the hassle of having to remove the card from the wallet when tagging transportation cards.

It's expected that this inconvenience would be resolved if Apple Pay becomes usable in more places and supports transportation card functions. Until that day comes, I think the need for physical card wallets will continue.

Especially in Korea, where Apple Pay that could replace transportation card functions is not active, the practicality of this product is inevitably limited. But in an environment where I use physical cards, it was still useful and convenient enough for carrying just one or two cards.

Future Purchase Plans

If a collaboration product that I like is released in the future, I plan to buy several in advance due to the limited edition nature. While the durability issue is disappointing, the high satisfaction I get from the design makes it worth putting up with it. However, I'm looking forward to the day when Apple Pay becomes more active in Korea and supports transportation card functions, so that I won't need a physical card wallet.

Also, I would definitely like to purchase it again if a new material or a version with improved durability is released. If CASETiFY reflects user feedback and introduces an upgraded product, I think it could provide an even more satisfactory user experience.

In Conclusion...

The CASETiFY MagSafe card wallet provided high satisfaction in terms of design and brand collaborations, but there is room for improvement in terms of durability. In the Korean market, the development of NFC and Apple Pay will determine the necessity of this product.

As a consumer, I look forward to the development of products that satisfy both design and practicality, and I'm waiting for the day when Apple Pay will be allowed in more places and will support transportation card functions.
